Angel Codes reviewed by Bitten By Books

Lynn from Bitten By Books was kind enough to read my entire trilogy, plus the novella 1.5 for this series AngelFire Chronicles. Her review for the last book Angel Codes is below.

http://bittenbybooks.com/angel-codes-by-ami-blackwelder/

Angel Codes picks up where book two leaves off. I have read the whole series, and I strongly recommend that you read the trilogy in order.
In Angel Codes, Ali and Kian are “Angel Fire,” which means they are Angels with the job of protecting all of humanity from the Dark Angels. It is an epic story of the battle between good and evil.
Kian and Ali are in love, but the book is not focused on their love story as much as it is about saving humanity, and the final battle. The parts of the book that really stand out, and are so well-written, are the fight scenes. The way the fight scenes are written, it makes you feel as if you are right there.
I love Ami’s books because her writing ability is unique, as she captures a scene, and throughout the book, her descriptions are so spot-on that you really get lost, in a fantastic way, because you fall into the book as if you are there, living it with the characters. It is truly a gifted author who can accomplish that, and I felt the same with the other two books. It makes you want to get the next book as soon as possible, she is that talented.
No one really wants a great series/trilogy to end. That is exactly what happened to me with this series. Without spoilers, I will say that I did enjoy the ending, and I look forward to her next book. If you love Paranormal, then this trilogy is a must for you, with its unique take on Good vs. Evil.

Bitten By Books Reviews Falling Angels

http://bittenbybooks.com/falling-angels-by-ami-blackwelder/

Falling Angels by Ami Blackwelder

Falling Angels (AngelFire Chronicles) (Volume 2) by Ami BlackwelderAllison, (Ali) has made a huge transition. She is now an angel. Ali finds out that Dameon is a demon, and wants nothing more than to kill her, and a war is about to break out between the angels and demons. She is thrust in the middle of the two, and the war that is quickly approaching. Her brother and her two best friends are also brought into the war. Ali refuses to give up, there are too many lives at stake. You may think you know what evil is, until you realize the fact that everyone has some type of darkness inside of them. Who will fall in the darkness, and who will survive this unholy war?
Ali has Kian, who is an Angel, but for far longer than Ali, and she turns to him for guidance. With her life turned upside down, danger at every turn, she knows there will be losses, but can she protect the ones that mean the most to her, and more importantly, can she save herself?
Once again, the author has written the characters so well, that you have the feeling that you have known them. I was very pleasantly surprised at the attitude that the characters have no choice but to grow up fast because a war is coming, and true evil will surface.
The way that Ms. Blackwelder transitions the characters is flawless, and keeps you intrigued from beginning to end. Falling Angels really makes you appreciate the storyline even more, because you start to really care about the characters, but still wonder who will win this war of Good versus Evil.

Bitten By Books reviews Dumah's Demons

http://bittenbybooks.com/dumahs-demons-by-ami-blackwelder/

Dumah’s Demons by Ami Blackwelder

Dumah's Demons (YA Urban Angel Romantic Thriller/ AngelFire Chronicles 1.5) by Ami BlackwelderKian has been stolen by his own sister to serve the Demons in the Underworld. Ali has to decide by herself how to rescue Kian, since his sister, Dumah, is a Dark Angel (demon). Dumah has made a really bad mistake. She is violently attacked, beaten, and much worse. Her only hope of survival is if Kian can save her. Her hope is dwindling, minute by minute, until she loses all hope of being saved.
Suddenly a stranger approaches her and whispers”Come with me, and learn why you are different.” Kian disappears, and with no other choice, Dumah follows the stranger. She finds out that she will grow wings and receive a power. Her power will be the ability to move woodlands with her mind. It is crystal clear that there are two kinds of Angels: the Dark Ones, and the Angelfire.
Angelfire protect the humans. The Dark Angels want to rid the world of humans because they think that humans want to steal their power.
Rules are explained to her, and the idea that humans are dangerous to them is repeated to her, letting her know that they really believe what they say.
The writing in Dumah’s Demon’s is as fantastic as the other two books in her series, but I had a difficult time relating to this book. It felt as though it was written in a hurry, with many people and details missing. I have to admit that the only reason I could finish it was pure curiosity, to see where Ms. Blackwelder was going with the storyline.
I do not want to give any spoilers, but this book is very dark, with horrific scenes that I felt were not needed, especially in a YA book. There is another book in this series coming out soon. I will purchase it, just to see if it picks up and is more like the first two books, that I loved, or if it will be along the lines of this one. I have high hopes that the next novel will be as well-written as books one and two.

Bitten By Books Reviews She Speaks to Angels

She Speaks to Angels by Ami Blackwelder

She Speaks to Angels by Ami BlackwelderAllison is seventeen, and being a teenager is never easy, but for Ali it is worse. In the past there have been kids that have committed suicide at her school. When a popular, beloved football player allegedly jumps off the roof of the high school, Ali has more questions than answers. Suddenly, three new students start at Ali’s High School, she befriends them, and then she realizes they are troublemakers.
When Ali’s crush, Dameon, starts to pay attention to her, Ali is thrilled, but torn between him and her three new friends. Not knowing whom to trust, Ali and her friends question the supposed suicide, and she learns there is more going on than what it appears.
She Speaks to Angels starts out slowly, but suddenly picks up in a flurry of action. This book is very well-written, and the high school parts of the book are simply perfect. The author captures those moments exactly like the days when we were in high school (though we did not have angels or demons). She captures the “cliques” that are at every school with such finesse, and talent.
Ali is a great character, and Ms. Blackwelder does such an amazing job with her very detail-oriented descriptions, from the characters to the background, especially of the angels and demons. I highly recommend this novel, especially if you have a love of angels. It is not an easy task to write a book for Young Adults that also captivates adults, yet Blackwelder does it flawlessly. I am looking forward to her next book to see where she takes the characters.

Falling Angels

AngelFire Chronicles, #2

Falling Angels is the second book in the outstanding Angelfire series by Ami Blackwelder. As with the first book, I was immediately drawn in to the story, as it is extremely engaging and interesting. I did find it somewhat fast paced, but not confusing at all, so it was easy to follow. The characters from the previous novel She Speaks to Angels did come back, and they were deeper and more adult than the first book, which follows the storyline of a deep and dangerous conflict perfectly. I would recommend reading in order to get the full benefit of the story told in order. As a lover of angels, this book was a perfect read for me, as it would be for others as well.

Ali Maney’s world has turned upside down. Now that she is a human turned angel (known as Angelfire), Daemon and Dumah, Kian’s sister, both Dark Angels, want nothing more than Ali’s death. Dumah and Daemon are trying to build an army, and Ali’s death would not only help them, but would destroy Kian and the other Angels as well. And now her friends and family have been drawn into the angel war too! Kian is devastated by his sister’s desertion, and turns all of his attentions to Ali and her training. All she wanted was a normal high school experience. Ali never wanted to be this extraordinary being who held the fate of the world in her hands. Ali is not sure that she can stop the Dark Angels, or that her powers will be enough. Kian knows that they have to be. Can Ali and her powers save them all? Or will she fall, and all be lost?
